about
HELLO
Welcome to Legacy art prints, my name is David Sherman and I am from London. one sunny day when I was thirteen and on my school summer holidays I ended up at Trafalgar square. I was with couple of friends and we decided to go to the national gallery, which is on the same square as the monument. this was the first time I saw a painting by Caravaggio and the impact it had on me, and how it will benefit me in the future.
for twelve years i ran a monochrome hand printing business with one of does friends. his mother ran a model agency and we had the top floor and the attic where our darkroom was. we were small but we were good and the word got round to other models and photographers. the prints for the models portfolios would be straight forward but photographers portfolios needed more work, and this where Caravaggio comes back in. the striking contrast of Caravaggio’s work is perfect for black and white prints and before digital all retouching was done by hand.
after the darkroom one of my photographers was offered a job at a national paper. a new department was being set up that used a new software called photoshop and they needed creatives. I told him I was not sure so I’ll work there for a few months and ended up staying there for 12 years.
when I left the newspaper went to live in a couple of countries for a few year then came back to London. now artificial intelligence is here and for myself it opens a whole new world of image creation.
